St. Mary's Catholic School

Excerpts from the Current Newsletter...

Join us this weekend Saturday May 3 for the Mother's Day Tea and Small Business Fair. It is from 1-4 pm. Please contact Sandy Ramsey if you can donate some time or goodies. She can be reached at 562-5957. Thanks to Sandy and Christy Polillo for taking on this event.

Just a reminder that the next Shop and Support order is due the second Friday of the May. Plan now and stock up for end of the year gifts for staff, your child for a job well done this year at school or the bus driver. Even for summer holidays, it’s a great way to have less cash to carry.

The last Pancake Breakfast of the year is coming up fast. So mark Wednesday May 13 on your calendar and bring your appetite and join us from 7:30 to 8:20 am.

Got any old books that are taking up room or you have read and don’t want anymore why not donate them for the 2nd annual St. Mary's Book Sale. Donations can be dropped off by Friday May 23, please place on the far back of the stage in the gym. The sale will be Saturday May 24 from 8:30 am to 2 pm. Watch for a notice to be sent home soon.

A huge thanks to Joyce, Tracy, Mandi, Elizabeth, Pauline from Grade one for the wonderful job on the Family Fun Night and an extra round of applause as they are willing to continue the event next year. Many thanks to all the volunteers who came out to make this a great time for all who attended.

Cookbooks are still for sale in the school office.

St. Mary's Families
Meet 1st Tuesday of the month
7pm, St. Mary's staffroom

The Parent Support Group (PSG) works together with staff and parents to raise funds and sponsor spirit events to enrich our school.

All parents are welcome to attend, and are automatically members of the PSG. As with any volunteer based group, we are always looking for fresh faces and ideas, so we strongly encourage parents to attend our meetings and participate in the events. We meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the staffroom.

In the past year we have organized Halloween dance, movie night, raffle, fireworks, family fun night and other efforts as well, the Silent Auction and Dance for us parents. We have raised funds that have been used for sound systems, computers, assisted with school bursaries, field trips, library books and many other items that have benefited our school and our children.

We are currently raising funds to replace our school playground equipment. Remember our pancake breakfast proceeds go to non-profit groups such as St. Vincent DePaul, Rainbows, and Holy Childhood and our school's foster child.

We are asking for everyone's assistance in our ongoing fundraising and school spirit efforts. We asking for any time or effort that you can give. Some time to decorate, assist at an event, phone other parents, and sell some raffle tickets, if you have any time or any talent we have a job for you. Volunteering is very flexible and a half hour of decorating is as valuable to the success of an event as the coordination. No time or task is too small or would be unwelcomed.
